“Vessel Traffic Management System (VTS) is a system set up by the maritime safety management administration to implement traffic management and provide safety information consulting Services for the purpose of ensuring the safety of vessel traffic, improving the efficiency of vessel traffic and protecting the marine environment.

China has built or will build 65 VTS centers, more than 300 radar stations, is the world's largest VTS construction, monitoring water area of the country.  Each VTS center annually receives more than 10 million ship reports, provides more than 1.6 million traffic organization services, provides more than 8 million service information and 13,000 navigation assistance services to ships, and avoids 33,000 ship dangers through VTS, which has achieved remarkable results in improving maritime traffic safety, optimizing ship traffic flow, providing information services and emergency response".
